The Pearl Fishers

This version of Bizet’s Pearlfishers duet is dependent on audience interaction. An image of a dancer is projected on the bottom of a water tub of stainless steel.

By touching the water the audience evokes the music and the dance, frame by frame, resembling the chronophotographic imagery of Eadweard Muybridge. The installation consists of a tub of stain- less steel (90*110*12 cm), 15 litres of water, a white Plexiglas board, microphones, pro- jector, computer and loudspeakers.
