Desire, Chaos and Geometry is a choreographic work for twelve dancers in twelve scenes inspired by the individual expressions of various kinds of birds and how they move in flocks that suddenly break up into new formations.
The movements were developed in collaboration with the dancers and blended with pre-choreographed material. The dancers created the movement patterns by drawing circles, curves and lines in the air, imagining their body as body parts of different birds – the beak, the tip of a wing, the tail-feather, the claws and the gaze of an eagle.
One of the dancer´s steps and movements were captured on large white papers with black ink traces, later suspended from the ceiling in the background of the stage.
The music was a commission to the Italian composer Francesco Boschetto, wherein all the sounds were generated from musical material recorded by the Swedish violinist Anna Lindal.
